PVAS has a number of education programs, and is always looking to expand
services. Below is a brief summary of our current programs.
For the Classroom ---
Bird Basics - Docent
Program & Classroom Presentations
Volunteer docent's provide classroom presentations
to elementary school children, to generate excitment in learning about
birds and their habitates.
Audubon Adventures
- Newspaper Subscriptions for Elementary School Classes
Adventures teaches 4th - 6th grade students
about a variety of subjects related to birds, wildlife and habitat.
PVAS helps local teachers with annual subscriptions to Adventures.
Owl Pellet Program -
Free Owl Pellets for Classes
Owl pellets teach children, about owls, their diet
and habitat, through hands-on laboratory experience. PVAS has owl
pellets available for teachers in the area.
For Service Group Meetings ---
Slide Programs - Identification,
Conservation, etc. of Local Birds
Geared to adults and tailored to the local area,
this program shows photos of the common local birds and discuses conservation
issues and technics.
For Local Wildarea Parks ---
Customized Birdlists & Identification
Charts - Local Southern California Area Bird Interpretive Materials
for non-profit, public use Wildlands.
With thanks to our volunteers and help from our
Hank Childs & Ray Wells Memorial Fund, we
are now able to develop lists & species ID charts focused on specific
habitats and needs.
