2005 - 2006 PVAS Field Trips

Welcome one and all! For trips other than the Beginners' Bird Walk (which goes rain or sun) we suggest that you contact the trip leader a few days prior to the trip for any changes or last minute instructions. Click on underlined destinations for more info.

POMONA VALLEY AUDUBON’S 2005-2006 FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE - SPRING

  One day and half day trips start at Memorial Park, Indian Hill Blvd at 10th Street, Claremont. Weekend trips usually start at the destination on Saturday morning.

 The hikes at Bonelli Park meet at park headquarters on Via Verde, just off the 57 freeway.

  January

 Sunday, Jan. 8. Beginner’s Bird Walk – Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden 8 a.m.

 Weds. Jan 11.  Prado County Park.  Dan Gregory 7:30 a.m.

 Sat.  Jan 21.  Evening Parrot Prowl trip to Temple City. 3:30   Lee Swanberg.

 Sun. Jan 22. Bonelli Park Bird Walk.  Rod Higbie 8 a.m.

 February

 Sunday, Feb. 5. Beginner’s Bird Walk – Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden 8 a.m.

 Weds. Feb. 8.  Lake Perris. Dan Gregory.  7 a.m.

 Sat-Sun – Feb. 11-12. Salton Sea Weekend – Dan Guthrie

 Sat-Sun May 20-21.  Kern River Valley and Butterbred Spring  Dan Guthrie. 

 Sat May 21 San Gabriel Mountains. 7 a.m. leader to be announced

 Sunday, June 4. Beginner’s Bird Walk – Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden 8 a.m.

 Weds. June 7.  Carbon Canyon Regional Park. Dan Gregory.  7:30 a.m.

 Saturday, June 10. Big Bear Lake Area – Dan Guthrie 6 a.m.          

 

 

 

------NOTES-------

Beginner's Bird Walks
Please join our monthly (first sunday of each month, Sept thru June) bird walk at the beautiful Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens. The garden has a variety of habitats and the plantings attract many local and migrant bird species through-out the year. Bring binoculars if you have them. Adults and children welcome. The walk is flat and slow and takes about two hours. Meet at the front entry gate at the top of College avenue north of Foothill (1500 N. College Ave.)

Other Notes:

Most field trips carpool and leave from Memorial Park, located at 840 Indian Hill Blvd., between 8th and 10th Streets in Claremont. MAP

* Field trips requiring little or no walking

** Please notify trip leader to reserve a space on field trips

*** Day use National Forest Permits now required. $5.00 each location. Annual Permits available for $30.00. There is a $100 fine for noncompliance.
