Biology 176: Tropical Ecology

Tropical Ecology is offered in the spring semesters. The course assumes no prior ecological background beyond second semester Introductory Biology (44L).

Costa Rica Field Trip

An optional field trip to Costa Rica is run in conjunction with this course. Students spend approximately ten days in cloud forest, lower montane tropical rainforest, and tropical deciduous forest. The focus of the field trip is direct experience with a wide variety of fauna, flora and volcanic phenomena. Participants should be physically fit and willing to endure discomfort. Cost: approximately $1200 - $1300.

I am not able to offer this fieldtrip during the 2007 Spring Break; however, the possibility of running it later in the semester exists if there is student interest.
