Student grades will be determined as: 1. Class = 15% 2. Laboratory = 25% 3. Project: Oral presentation = 30% Written Presentation = 30% Projects will be done by a team composed of 2-3 students, depending on the size of the class. In each project, the team will study a physiological oscillation that they find interesting. Broadly, you are required to choose one of the following tasks: 1. You may choose to find a number (2-4 probably) of journal articles in the area of bio-mathematics that have studied the physiological oscillation with different points of view and the compare and contrast the approaches taken by the authors; 2. You may choose a particular article that you feel could be better explained (both mathematically and in terms of communication), and undertake the project of giving a better explanation; 3. You may choose to alter an existing model to focus of some aspect of the physiology that is of interest to you; 4. You may choose to create your own model for a sporting application that interests you -- if you choose this try to keep it simple enough for the time period that you have for the project; 5. You might have even a better idea: If so, first explain this to Prof. Milton to get an official OK. |
